Add some egg-stra joy to your Easter display with Sara Whatley’s easy and fun Easter crafts for children and adults to enjoy
Easter is such a pretty time of year with colourful chocolate treats, painted eggs, dainty spring flowers and (hopefully) some sunshine too. Whether you are hosting the family for lunch or simply pottering in the garden, these playful Easter crafts are sure to brighten up the home.
Making the string eggs is fun for all aged children, and adults too, and the hand printed chicks are especially good for younger children.

STRING EASTER EGGS
You will need:
1 balloon per ‘egg’
Wool or yarn of your colour choices
PVA glue mixed with water
Scissors
Newspaper covered surface
How to:
Firstly, cover your working area with newspaper to catch glue drips. Then blow up the balloon or balloons to your desired size.
Now mix some PVA glue with a little water to make it a bit runnier. Cut long lengths of your wool or yarn and dip them into the glue mix.
Wrap the gluey wool or yarn around the balloon in a crisscross pattern, layering different colours if desired. Once you are happy with how it looks then peg it up to dry by the balloon knot.
Once the wool or yarn has dried and set, pop the balloon and carefully remove it. You can hang your string eggs up to make a display, or if you leave an opening on one side when you are making the egg you can fill it with mini chocolate eggs or Easter decorations of your choice.

HANDPRINT CHICKS
You will need:
Yellow and orange paint Orange card (optional)
Glue (optional)
Paper or card to print on
A black pen
Scissors
How to:
To make the handprint chicks start by putting some yellow paint on a plate and spreading it out. Let your children press their hand in then print their yellow handprint on some paper or card. Now take the orange paint and add two legs and chicken feet at the base of the handprint.
Once the paint is dry you can draw on two small black eyes. To make the beak either stick on an orange triangle cut out of card, or paint on an orange triangle. Let the whole thing dry then cut loosely around the chick, or print on folded card to send as an Easter card.
