Visit the East Sussex National golf resort and spa this Valentine's Day

This Valentine’s Day, or indeed any other day if you decide to avoid the commercial crunch of the 14th of February why not plan a visit to the East Sussex National golf resort and spa.

Escape to the luxurious East Sussex National, a tranquil retreat offering the perfect blend of decadence and style. Nestled in 1100 acres of breathtaking countryside, this hotel is a gem for those seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. The East Sussex National is a golfer's paradise, boasting two highly-rated golf courses right on the doorstep. The hotel also has a fully-equipped gym and spa with 11 tranquil treatment rooms. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the East Sussex National for 2 nights in January 2023 and were not disappointed. The hotel offers more than one hundred blissfully tranquil bedrooms, and our suite was expansive, with a huge balcony. Nearby activities include the iconic Bluebell Railway, or head to the coast for some of the most spectacular waterfront views. Brighton's exciting nightlife and Eastbourne's picturesque promenade are also within easy reach.

The hotel's eateries offer a variety of culinary delights, so come with a hearty appetite. The evening meal was particularly impressive, with delicious terrine and scallops to start, an impressive piece of cod and a wonderful pork dish gracing our table. The olive oil and orange cake with homemade ice cream to finish was particularly delicious. The breakfast was also excellent, with a huge amount of choice and variety. The full English was delivered on all counts and was accompanied by Danish pastries, a huge selection of fresh fruit and continental delicacies -proving a huge hit with us.

The spa treatments were wonderful, and I would highly recommend the mud treatment for two, both for it's humour and how invigorated I felt after.  The tranquility area included a warm and welcoming dimly lit therapy lounge with adjoining sauna, steam room and aromatherapy room. For me, the only downside was the hotel’s pool, which could do with sprucing up. The queue for the whirlpool Jacuzzi was also a little frustrating, however we did get in and it was wonderful. The pool area features a steam room and sauna, which we tried and loved. Probably the most powerful steam-room I've ever visited!

The spa treatments were wonderful, I can recommend the mud treatment for two as being both hilarious and invigorating all at once! The Tranquility area including a warm and welcoming dimly lit therapy lounge with adjoining sauna, steam room and aromatherapy room were genuinely blissful.  The only downside was the hotel’s pool, which could do with a revamp and sprucing up. The queue for the whirlpool Jacuzzi was also reasonably frustrating however we did get in and it was wonderful. The pool area also features a steam room and sauna, which we tried and loved. Probably the most powerful steam-room I've ever visited! If I was being hyper-critical, I would comment on the afternoon tea service and presentation which was a little lacking. However, everything was clean and working; facilities, food, spa, pool and drinks are all excellent and cannot be faulted.

In conclusion, The East Sussex National Golf resort is a fantastic choice for those looking for a secluded and luxurious getaway, with plenty of activities and attractions nearby. The hotel's amenities and service are top-notch, making it great value for money. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating break at a reasonable price point.
