Haywards Heath Town Day

Saturday 13th September, 12pm to 9pm


Get ready for an unforgettable day out in the heart of Haywards Heath! Come to Victoria Park and enjoy a packed day of fun for all ages, including fairground rides, crazy golf, circus skills and more. Bring your pups for the popular dog show, Roar with our life-sized Brontosaurus, and meet the beloved Bluey at intervals throughout the day! 


With a whole schedule of live performances, the grand finale features Magic Queen - Europe’s top Queen tribute act. Don’t miss this fantastic free event for the whole family! 




Contemporary Craft Fair at Hever Castle – Discounted Tickets Available Now! 

Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st September


The Contemporary Craft Fair by Craft In Focus returns to Hever Castle & Gardens, featuring 150 of the UK’s top designer-makers. Visitors can explore and shop from a diverse range of handmade items including jewellery, ceramics, textiles, furniture, artwork, and more – all presented by the makers themselves, with no mass-produced or imported goods allowed. Set against the stunning backdrop of Hever Castle, the fair offers demonstrations, live music, food, and family-friendly activities including mazes and an adventure playground.

Chiddingstone Castle Evening Dining Events 

Chiddingstone Castle has launched a new series of dining experiences! Each event will have a different theme and feel, you can dine in the grandeur of The Great Hall, attend an intimate gathering in The White Rose Room or join a party in the fabulous Marquee! 


On October 18th take part in a Castle Murder Mystery evening, the incredible setting will add to the experience while you ponder on the culprit! 


November 1st sees a stunning firework display light up the sky above the historic grounds. December welcomes a full party season with a Casino Royale Ball, Christmas Choirs, A Night at the Musicals, A Swing Special and the grand finale of The Gatsby Gala on New Years Eve.

Hailsham Festival of Arts and Culture 

Saturday 6th to Sunday 21st September

 

This is the 19th year of the Hailsham Festival of Arts & Culture and, as ever, the event will be offering a wide range of events for all the family. The festival is a celebration of both professional and amateur talent, creativity and imagination centred in the market town of Hailsham and its surrounding area. 


Events include art, music, dance, drama, creative writing, poetry and film, and they are proud that in line with their commitment to inclusivity, over half of the events are free of charge and some others cost £5 or less.

 



The Bluebell Railway 

September Dates 


The Bluebell Railway is offering an array of exciting events in September. From the 5-7, the Diesel Gala takes centre stage, an event for railway enthusiasts and newcomers alike, showcasing historic diesel locomotives in action. The gala creates a captivating atmosphere as these powerful machines traverse the picturesque countryside, offering a unique glimpse into the history and engineering marvels of diesel locomotives. 


From the 19-21, it’s the much-anticipated Bluebell Railway Beer Festival. Choose from a variety of different cask beers and a fine selection of cider and perry too! Alternatively, try the new wine bar with gentle music and a range of beers, gins and wine – located at Kingscote Station goods yard. 


These events in September promise an unforgettable experience not to be missed by anyone seeking a blend of history, culture, and fun. 




Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden Trail at Bateman’s 

Saturday 20th September to Sunday 2nd November, 10am to 4pm


Flutter over to Bateman’s this autumn and join Ben and his friends for a family-friendly trail that follows the story of ‘Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden’ by Kate Petty and Axel Scheffler. 


Ben loves flowers and butterflies so when his friends Worm and Ladybird suggest he makes his garden prettier by growing his own butterfly garden, he soon sets to work. In collaboration with Nosy Crow. £2 with a small prize. Normal admission applies.




Spell Quest at Bodiam Castle

Saturday 11th October to Sunday 2nd November, 10am to 4pm


Calling all young witches and wizards! This autumn, join a spellbinding quest at Bodiam Castle, filled with magical creatures like dragons and mermaids. 


Take part in enchanting games and activities to unlock your own magical powers, just in time for the grand spellcasting finale. 


Plus, don’t forget to wear your Halloween costume and join the Best Dressed competition (selected dates). £3.50 with a magical prize. Normal admission applies.




Eco Home Open Houses & Gardens 

Dates in September 


Over three Saturdays this September, homeowners are opening their doors and garden gates to share their energy-saving upgrades and wildlife- friendly gardens in: Barcombe (13th Sept) Lewes (20th Sept) Rodmell, Hassocks & Ditchling (27th Sept).


See air source heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage, ventilation systems, insulation, electric car charging, vegetable plots, wild gardens, and glazing ideas for conservation areas. Come and see it all for yourself and chat directly with those who’ve made it happen!
